Complete 25 push-ups in a row without stopping while maintaining perfect form.
Not all types of physical activity are suitable for everyone. Users take challenges and training advice at their own personal risk.
A good way to really improve your physique is to set goals and work steadily towards them. Rather than planning to do "some" push-ups each day, challenge yourself to do 25 in a row without stopping. If you're not in great shape now, this can take some time and effort to achieve, but it will make the accomplishment that much more rewarding.
To perform a proper push-up, lie on the floor on your stomach. Press your palms to the floor with your fingers pointing towards your head and tuck your elbows in to your sides. Push yourself up by extending your elbows fully while keeping on your toes on the floor. Pause for a moment at the top of the push-up, then slowly lower yourself down. The downward motion should be just as controlled and just as difficult as the upward motion. Don't just let yourself fall; it's important to keep your muscles engaged the entire time. Pause with your chin an inch above the floor, then repeat the exercise.
As tempting as it is, don't stop and rest between each push-up. Keep your body taut and extended the entire time, and don't arch your back. The longer you can keep your muscles working, the more progress you'll make in improving your strength.
If you're having trouble, try a few push-ups from your knees rather than your toes. This can help you focus on technique until you've mastered it; then go back to regular push-ups. There's no shame in doing these easier push-ups in the beginning, especially if you haven't exercised in awhile. No one expects small children to ride a bike without training wheels the first time, and this is no different.
Now that you've mastered the technique, it's time to work on meeting the challenge you've set for yourself. First, test yourself to see how many push-ups you can do in a row without stopping. If right now you can do 10 push-ups, challenge yourself to do 12 tomorrow. Then create a schedule building up to the 25 push-up challenge. Don't forget to schedule time to simply practice the technique and build up your strength without worrying about the challenge.
When you reach your goal, take the time to reward yourself- but then be sure to set a more difficult challenge for next time.
