If you’ve completed the one minute hula hoop challenge, you should be ready to do the three minute challenge. Chances are you’ve gotten the hang of spinning the hula hoop around your hips and have gotten comfortable with the motion.
It’s not as easy as it looks, is it? A lot of people can get the hoop rotating for a little while, but then lose momentum and get out of rhythm with the hoop, and no matter how fast their hips spin, the hoop slowly loses steam until it falls to the ground.
If you’re ready to do the three minute challenge, get your stopwatch ready. Stand with your feet slightly apart and the hula hoop resting on your hips, holding it with your hands.
It doesn’t matter which way you start the spin – you can fling it from left ti right or right to left. A lot of that decision depends on not only what you’re comfortable with, but also whether you are right or left-handed. Sometimes left-handed people prefer to spin the hoop left to right, which is perfectly fine – whatever works for you.
The most important thing to keep in mind when doing the hula hoop challenge is to keep the rhythm of the hoop rotation. A lot of that is done by feel and intuition. You need to become one with the hoop! You can gyrate your hips faster or slower, depending on what is needed to keep the hoop spinning.
You can also use your arms to help you with your momentum. Holding your arms up or out can provide you with the balance needed to complete the challenge. By holding your arms up, you are extending the length of your body and increasing your center of gravity. This makes the spinning gyrations easier for you to do as your trying to keep the hula hoop going.
Keeping all this in mind, you should be ready to start the three minute hula hoop challenge. Start the clock, and see if you can go for three minutes. Don’t forget to keep your concentration and focus your attention the whole time.
