If you own a jump rope and think you’re pretty good at it, then you can compete in the 500 Jump Ropes Challenge. You have absolutely nothing to lose and lots of bragging rights amongst your friends and peers if you succeed.
The Challenge is actually very simple. You must jump rope 500 times consecutively without tripping up. If you stop or stumble at any point, you must stop and begin the count all over again.
There are plenty of ways that you can do the Challenge – you can jump rope all by yourself or with a group of friends. In addition, you can choose to do the traditional style of jump rope where you swing the rope over your head and then jump when it comes to in front of your toes. You may also decide to go backwards so that it comes at your heels. If you really want a challenge, ask two friends to twirl the rope for you and go Chinese style on the rope, jumping to your side.
You need a fair bit of dexterity as well as some time to dedicate to this Challenge. This is likely not going to happen overnight, so you need to work on being nimble and quick on your toes. Tire obstacles are a great way to practice because you learn to dodge back and forth as well as get your knees up high.
In addition, you want to make sure that you are effectively counting so you don’t lose track. You can either get one of the fancy jump ropes that have the counter that is built into the handle or ask a friend (or two or three) to count for you. You may count out loud, however it distracts from your concentration.
When you are ready to start the Challenge, ask a friend or coach to be your witness. This way no one will try and go against your claim that you successfully completed 500 jump ropes.
If you do 500 jumps without stopping or stumbling, then give yourself a pat on the back because you have completed the 500 Jump Ropes Challenge.
