Perform an 8 minute 1 mile run. Does not matter if you take breaks, but it has to be done under 8 minutes and a full mile.
Not all types of physical activity are suitable for everyone. Users take challenges and training advice at their own personal risk.
The 8 Minute 1 Mile Run Challenge is a fun, rewarding jogging goal. An 8 minute mile is a challenge, but achievable. Here are 3 tips to completing the 8 Minute 1 Mile Run Challenge.
Stretch Out
Stretching is an important part of any workout. It increases flexibility and reduces risk of injury. Not stretching before running greatly increases the risk of pulling a muscle or other injury.
However, stretching takes time. Perhaps you are able to run and stretch your arms at the same time, but it will slow down your pace. Any running challenge becomes much more difficult if the first couple of minutes are spent slowly jogging while stretching.
Make sure you are ready to start the challenge as soon as the timer begins. Of course, stretching your legs is vital to meeting the challenge. Also, stretching your arms, back and even neck can help.
Warm Up
In addition to stretching, or as part of, warming up is an important aspect of preparing for the 8 Minute 1 Mile Challenge. To make sure you are limber and ready to run at the start of the challenge, warm up beforehand.
To warm up, begin by walking. Slowly increase your pace slightly. Try lifting your thighs so they are parallel with the ground or kicking the back of your legs with your heels. These techniques will ensure your legs are flexible and ready to run.
Pace Yourself
Running 1 mile in 8 minutes is a challenge. However, this pace is far from a full sprint. Pacing yourself is the best strategy for the 8 Minute 1 Mile Challenge.
Achieving this goal requires discipline. The natural desire is to run as fast as possible. After all, it is only a mile, right? But, a mile is longer than it may seem.
Begin the run at a pace you can definitely maintain. If you find yourself with energy towards the end, you can speed up at the finish. But, do not go fast too soon.
Stretching, warming up and pacing yourself are all keys to running a mile in 8 minutes.

Jeff C. You are just completing challenge after challenge...I really like this one. Takes me back to the days when I had to have a mile under a certain amount of time for soccer.
