How to do the Ab Roller - Learn Proper Ab Roller Form

  1. Step 1: Starting with the abdominal roller (or AB wheel) on the floor in front of you, kneel down on an exercise mat.
  2. Step 2: Grasp the abdominal roller with one hand on each side of the center wheel so that you are now on all fours.
  3. Step 3: Breathing in, slowly roll the abdominal roller straight out in front of you, keeping your abdominals contracted at all times.
  4. Step 4: Pause briefly (up to 3 counts) and then slowly roll back to your starting position while breathing out.

Ab Roller Variations and Ab Roller Alternatives

  1. Variation 1: To work on the obliques, roll diagonally instead of straight outward, alternating each side.
  2. Variation 2: Advanced Users: Roll out and back in from a standing position instead of a kneeling position.

Ab Roller Tips

  1. Tip 1: Keep your muscles contracted throughout the exercise, including during the pause.
  2. Tip 2: For beginners: only roll out as far as you are comfortable, going a little further each time. Advanced Users: Roll out as far as you can, trying to get your body as close to the floor as possible without actually touching the floor.
