How to do the Ab Twist - Learn Proper Ab Twist Form

  1. Step 1: Sit with your backside on an exercise mat. Hold your feet a few inches off the ground with your knees slightly bent.
  2. Step 2: Hold your arms straight out in front of your chest with palms together. Next, lean back slightly to where you have to hold yourself up with your abdominal muscles.
  3. Step 3: Now twist your torso to your left side, pause, then twist back to center position. Then twist to the right side and twist back to center. This completes one rep.

Ab Twist Variations and Ab Twist Alternatives

  1. Variation 1: Hold a weight between your hands while performing exercise.
  2. Variation 2: Instead of keeping hands in the air, twist to one side and touch the ground with both hands together.
  3. Variation 3: If twisting to the left side, straighten right leg out and hold above the ground. Alternate for opposite side.

Ab Twist Tips

  1. Tip 1: Do not let your feet touch the ground. Take a break if you absolutely cannot hold them up. Cross feet together to make it easier to hold up.
  2. Tip 2: Try not to round your back. Keep it straight as possible.
  3. Tip 3: Twist as far to each side as possible to get the most out of this exercise.
