- Step 1: The pitcher throws the ball over home plate to the catcher and the hitter tries to hit the ball in the field of play and get on a base.
- Step 2: Proper pitching motion; bring your your front knee up off the ground, rotate your throwing arm back, lunge forward and bring your arm forward as you do and release the ball from your hand.
- Step 3: The catcher stand behind the batter in a squatting position ready to catch the ball and throw it back to the pitcher if the batter does not hit the ball.
- Step 4: The batter should stand with his knees slightly bent and bat on his shoulder ready to swing. If the batter sees a ball he likes he should step forward and swing the bat at the same time, keeping his eye on the ball the whole time.
- Step 5: If the batter hits the ball in fair play he should immediately start sprinting to base. Depending on how good the hit is he may be able to run to 2nd, 3rd, or even get a home run.
- Step 6: The defense should be in a stance with their knees bent ready to react to the ball if it is hit in their direction.
- Step 7: If the defense catches the ball in the air before the ball hits the ground the batter is out, also the batter is out if the defense throws the ball to the base (if it is a force out) or tags the runner.
- Step 8: Every time a batter gets all the way around the bases their team gets a point. The goal is to score more points then the other team.
