How to do the Dumbbell Incline Bench Press - Learn Proper Dumbbell Incline Bench Press Form

  1. Step 1: Lie down on an incline bench. Grasp a dumbbell in each hand on top of your thighs. The palms of your hands should be facing each other.
  2. Step 2: Use your thighs to help you push the dumbbells up. Lift them one at a time so that you can hold them shoulder width apart.
  3. Step 3: Rotate your wrists forward so that the palms of your hands are facing away from you. This is the starting position.
  4. Step 4: Push the dumbbells up with your chest, exhaling as you do so.
  5. Step 5: Lock your arms once you get to the top and hold for a second. Slowly start lowering the weight.
  6. Step 6: Repeat the movement for the number of reps in your set.
  7. Step 7: When you have finished your set, put the dumbbells on your thighs and then move the weights to the floor. This is the safest way to bring do so.

  1. Variation 1: Try this exercise with the palms of your hands facing each other.
  2. Variation 2: Start with the palms of your hands facing each other and then twist your wrists as you get to the top of the movement so that they are facing away from your body.

  1. Tip 1: Move in such as way that you are in control of the dumbbells at all times.
  2. Tip 2: Lowering the weight should take twice as long as raising them.
