How to do the Dumbbell Step-Up - Learn Proper Dumbbell Step-Up Form

  1. Step 1: Stand up and hold a dumbbell in each hand. Your palms should be facing the side of your legs.
  2. Step 2: Put your right foot on an elevated platform. Step on the platform and use your heel to lift the rest of your body up. Place the foot of your left leg on the platform too. Exhale as you come up on top of the bench.
  3. Step 3: Step down with your left leg by flexing your hip and the knee of your right leg as you inhale. Return to a standing position by placing your right foot next to your left in the starting position.
  4. Step 4: Repeat the movements with the right leg for the desired number of reps and then switch to the left leg.

  1. Variation 1: Alternate between your left and right legs.
  2. Variation 2: Use a barbell instead of dumbbells.
