How to do the EZ-Bar Overhead Tricep Extension - Learn Proper EZ-Bar Overhead Tricep Extension Form

  1. Step 1: Grab an EZ-bar with an overhand grip at the first grip position from the center. Raise bar above your head so your arms are straight out above your head. This is the starting position.
  2. Step 2: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Next, begin exercise by lowering bar down behind head without moving upper arms. Only your forearms should be lowering down at the elbow. Lower down until forearms are parallel to the floor.
  3. Step 3: Next, raise weight back up to starting position. Keep elbows tucked in. Do not let them flare out. This completes on rep.

  1. Variation 1: Instead of standing sit down on an upright bench and perform exercise.
  2. Variation 2: Lie down on a flat bench faceup and perform exercise.
  3. Variation 3: After completing one rep, lower weight down to upper chest and push back up to starting position. Do this after every tricep extension rep.

  1. Tip 1: Stand tall with chest out, back straight and feet in a shoulder-width stance.
  2. Tip 2: Very important. Keep upper arms stationary. Lower weight down at the elbows (like a door on a hinge).
  3. Tip 3: Elbows must stay tucked in. Elbows should not flare out. If they are flaring out the weight may be too much.
