How to do the Lateral Dumbbell Step-Up - Learn Proper Lateral Dumbbell Step-Up Form

  1. Step 1: Grab a pair of dumbbells and stand with your left side next a platform that is about knee height.
  2. Step 2: Next, place your left foot on the platform with your right leg straight and on the floor. Dumbbells should be hanging down at your sides at arm's length. This is the starting position.
  3. Step 3: Begin exercise by pushing up on your left foot until your right foot is even with your platform and you are standing straight.
  4. Step 4: Lower yourself back down. This completes one rep. Repeat as necessary and then switch legs.

  1. Variation 1: Use a barbell instead of dumbbells.
