How to do the Lying T-Bar Row - Learn Proper Lying T-Bar Row Form

  1. Step 1: Load the T-bar row machine with the weight of your choice. Adjust the leg height so that your upper chest is positioned at the top of the pad.
  2. Step 2: Lie face down on the pad and grasp the handles on the machine.
  3. Step 3: Lift the bar off the rack and extend your arms toward the front. This is the starting position.
  4. Step 4: Exhale and pull the weight up slowly. Squeeze your back when you get to the top of the movement.
  5. Step 5: Contract your muscles a second time at the top of the movement. Inhale and slowly move the weight back to the starting position.
  6. Step 6: Repeat for the number of reps in your set.

  1. Variation 1: When you grasp the handles on the machine, you can position your hands in a palms down, palms up or palms in position. The one you choose will depend on the part of your back you would like to target during the exercise.
