How to do the Reverse Crunch - Learn Proper Reverse Crunch Form

  1. Step 1: Lie face up on a mat. Place hands behind head and raise head off the ground
  2. Step 2: Next, lift your legs and bend knees so that they form a 90-degree angle. Hips are still on the ground at this time.
  3. Step 3: Begin exercise by raising your hips off the ground and toward your head (this movement will be slight but you should really feel it in your lower abs) Pause, then lower back down and repeat.

  1. Variation 1: Place feet flat on floor with knees bent. Place hands behind head and crunch up allowing your shoulders to come off the ground. Focus on crunching inward to rising upward.
  2. Variation 2: Lie on your left side. Legs together and knees bent. Place your left hand behind your head and begin exercise by crunching your obliques.

Reverse Crunch Tips

  1. Tip 1: Upper body should not move during crunch.
  2. Tip 2: Focus on contracting your abdominal muscles when raising your hips. Try to touch your knees to your head without moving upper body.
  3. Tip 3: The movement will not be much, but if done properly it should really target your lower abs.
