walking is a calisthenics, total body, and cardiovascular exercise that primarily targets the quads and to a lesser degree also targets the abs, calves, glutes, hamstrings, hip flexors and shoulders.

Tips

  1. Be sure to wear comfortable athletic shoes that will decrease soreness on your soles and prevent blisters on your feet.
  2. Be sure to keep your core tight, back upright, and arm swinging back forth.
  3. Be sure your stepping forward with your heel landing first and then rolling forward onto your toes as you walk.
  4. Walk on a soft surface such as a rubber floor or track. Try to avoid walking on concrete or other similar surfaces as this is bad on your knee joints.

    Walking is a very comfortable to burn some calories. It's also a nice way to break up your day by taking a walk outside if you have an indoor job. This is a pretty good video on some of the benefits of walking by Elliot Hulse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKelkKvm49Y

      Walking is great! Try mixing it up by walking as fast as you can (without running) and getting your arms involved for extra cardio. It needs to be challenging for it to work :)
