If you are somehow deficient in omega 6 and 9, then a combination supplement will be the right choice for you. It is important to point out, however, that a deficiency in anything but omega 3 in this fatty acid group is extremely rare. Most people get the omega 6 and 9 that they need from the food that they eat.

In fact, taking too much omega 6 and 9 can be harmful to your health. If you are already getting enough in your diet, then you don’t need to supplement these two fatty acids. It is best to talk to your doctor about what you eat to determine whether or not the additional supplementation is needed.

What is omega 3 6 9?

Omega 3, 6 and 9 are three different types of fatty acids. Omega 3 and 6 are essential fatty acids while omega 9 is not. An essential fatty acid is a fatty acid that must be consumed via food, as the body cannot produce its own from other nutrients in the body.

Omega 3, 6 and 9 are not the same type of fatty acid and they do not offer the same benefits. The majority of people in the US who do not supplement with an omega 3 vitamin have an omega 3 deficiency according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Most people however, do not have an omega 6 or 9 deficiency. In fact, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, the majority of people get about 25 times more omega 6 in their diets than they do omega 3. This is far more than what you actually need for healthy levels of omega 6.

Many people lump the benefits of omega 3, 6 and 9 together, but the bottom line is that they don’t all do the same thing. What’s more, each omega fatty acid contains individual fatty acids that make them a whole and each of those components do their own thing as well.

What is MegaRed Omega Krill Oil?

MegaRed Omega Krill Oil is actually the name of an omega 3 supplement that is made by Schiff. Schiff claims that MegaRed Omega Krill Oil offers a higher dose of omega 3, DHA, and EPA per one capsule than any other product does in 3 capsules. In addition, Schiff claims that MegaRed Omega Krill Oil doesn’t have that nasty fish aftertaste that is so common in omega 3 supplements.

Probably the better question to ask here is whether or not MegaRed Omega Krill Oil is more beneficial than other sources of omega 3. According to Dr. Andrew Weil M.D., the answer to that is yes.

Krill oil is derived from krill, which are crustaceans rather than fish. Dr. Weil says that there is evidence that you do get more omega 3 per serving from krill than you do from fish, however, this has not been well studied.

Of course, this is a classic example of a supplement company making a claim about a product without actual scientific evidence. However, many people offer anecdotal evidence that krill oil is better overall.

Testimonials commonly refer to the aftertaste often left by regular omega 3 supplements. However, krill oil supplements tend to be a bit more expensive than omega 3 derived from fish.

Does krill oil contain mercury like fish?

No, krill does not have the mercury that you will find in some cold water fish. However, if you are concerned about mercury, you don’t need to be with any supplements that are manufactured in the United States.

The process by which the supplements are made eradicates mercury from the fish so you don’t have to worry about that type of exposure. The same thing cannot be said about omega 3 products made outside of the U.S.

If you are buying an important omega 3 product, make sure that it is from a source with an impeccable record. You want to ensure that you are getting an uncontaminated product!

If you want to ensure that you are taking an omega 3 that is well tested and established, then krill oil may not be the best choice for you. It is still fairly new and doesn’t have the data to back up the claims made for it as fish oil does.
