The Biggest Winners on The Biggest Loser

Here are the biggest winners or some would say losers! Either way, these people lost the weight, and now we get to see their progress!

Season 1, 2004: Ryan Benson

Ryan started out weighing 330 pounds. By the end of the show, he had slimmed down to 208 pounds. Today, he’s back up to about 300–nearly 100 pounds heavier than his lowest weight and only 30 pounds shy of his beginning weight. Ryan humorously tweeted, “I’ve gained some of the weight back, but have maintained my boyish good looks and catlike agility.” He has had three children and appeared in a film focusing on body issues, entitled “Disfigured.”

Season 2, 2005: Matt Hoover

Matt began his journey at 339 pounds. At the season finale, he weighed in at 182 pounds. His most recently announced public weight was 237, about a 50 pound gain from his finale weight, but still over 100 pounds lighter than his starting weight. Matt wins The Biggest Loser’s Biggest Romantic Prize (just kidding, we made that up) for proposing to BL co-contestant Suzy live on the TODAY show. They have 2 kids together now. In 2011, he participated in the Ironman triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. The Ironman consists of a 2.4-mile ocean swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon.

Season 3, 2006: Erik Chopin

Erik was 407 pounds when he began The Biggest Loser. He worked his way down to 193 pounds for the season finale. He gained back over 170 pounds after the show ended, weighing in recently at 368 pounds. This is just 39 pounds lighter than his initial weight. Erik’s a certified spinning instructor and life coach, but his weight gain really impacted his life. He was featured in the Discovery Health documentary “Confessions of a Reality Show Loser” in the year 2010.

Season 4, 2007: Bill Germanakos

Beginning at 334 pounds, Bill was at a fairly common weight for starting contestants. He made it all the way down to 170 pounds at the show’s end. Currently, he’s about 207 pounds–a 37-pound increase from his lowest weight, but almost 130 pounds lighter than his beginning weight. Bill is a spinning instructor both locally and nationally and is the Wellness Ambassador and Director of Employee Wellness Initiatives for Quest Diagnostics. He tweeted, “OMG… My son Luke, a freshman in high school, just ran a mile and a half in 7:42.” Obviously the whole family is getting in on the fitness!
