Raspberry Ketone Overview

Raspberry Ketone is primarily used for its aroma, although raspberry ketone supplements are frequently used for weight loss. These chemical compounds are found naturally in raspberries and although there is no scientific evidence to back up their ability to help people lose weight, they are considered safe for food use by the FDA

Whether raspberry ketone works for weight loss or not is unknown and, although it is safe for use, the concentrated amounts found in raspberry ketone supplements may be cause for concern. Each supplement pill supposedly contains the equivalent of 1,000 raspberries, which goes beyond the general rule of everything in moderation, including fruits and vegetables.

Furthermore, the way raspberry ketone supplements work as a weight loss pill is reminiscent of the concept promoted by the Atkins diet. If you rob your body of carbohydrates then your body will resort to burning fat. However, your body needs carbohydrates to function correctly, and if you have an excess of protein you can develop medical complications.

Therefore, raspberry ketone supplements should only be taken with complete consideration of the benefits and consequences. As an aromatic fragrance raspberry ketone is considered safe, but when taken in high dosages it may not be so. Compare raspberry ketone supplements today!

Raspberry Ketone Benefits

Raspberry ketone is used as a fragrance in cosmetics and foods. It has a fruity aroma that is safe for use in the food industry, but it is very expensive to extract and use naturally. Therefore, raspberry ketone is frequently made from chemical intermediates.

In addition to raspberry ketone being used for fragrance, it may also benefit people for weight loss. However, in order to be effective for weight loss, a high amount of raspberry ketone is required. In studies using mice, they needed doses as high as 2% of their intake of food to make an impact on fat reduction.

The same results have not yet been reproduced for humans, yet raspberry ketone supplements are still being sold for weight loss. There are many health benefits to natural plant compounds, so the idea is not dismissible entirely. However, more studies need to be done and the potential side effects need to be weighed seriously.

Other potential benefits of raspberry ketone supplements include helping problems with digestion, heart problems, respiratory issues, and diabetes. It may also provide aid for vitamin deficiencies, fluid retention, skin rashes, and sore throats.

Raspberry Ketone Side Effects

When raspberry ketone is used in food, the amounts are considered to be likely safe. However, large dosages of raspberry ketone may cause problems, although it is still considered to be possibly safe.

There are no known side effects to taking raspberry ketone supplements, although some people may be allergic to raspberries and therefore allergic to raspberry ketone supplements. Other than allergies, raspberry ketone is relatively safe, even for use by pregnant women.

It is actually believed that raspberry ketone can help ease labor and delivery for pregnant women. However, this treatment should only be done with your doctor’s supervision because raspberry ketone can act as an estrogen and endanger your pregnancy. If you breastfeed your child you should avoid raspberry ketone supplements until more studies are done to determine the safety of it.

Since raspberry ketone may act like a hormone, people who have conditions that are sensitive to hormone balances may react poorly to raspberry ketone supplements. If you have cancer, such as breast, ovarian, or uterine, then you should not take raspberry ketone supplements. You should also avoid the supplement if you suffer from endometriosis or fibroids of the uterus.

As of now, there are no known interactions with other drugs. If you are uncertain of the safety of taking raspberry ketone, consult with your doctor.

Raspberry Ketone Dosage

As a natural supplement, raspberry ketone is generally safe. However, even natural supplements can be dangerous, especially if they are taken in massive quantities. In order to be sure you are getting the right dosage, you can check with your doctor or pharmacist.

When you buy raspberry ketone supplements the manufacturer will have suggested dosages on the bottle. For example, a supplement powder may have the recommended dosage of 100mg, taken twice daily.

Raspberry ketone supplement capsules may contain 500mg per serving, with a serving recommendation of up to 3 capsules a day. Capsules should be taken about 30 minutes before you eat.

Some raspberry ketone supplements are stronger than others, with a higher concentration per capsule. Be sure to read the supplement bottle so you know exactly how much raspberry ketone you are taking.

Although there is no medical evidence yet to support taking raspberry ketone supplements for weight loss, it is a natural supplement that may provide you with some medical benefit. Use the free supplement finder to locate and compare raspberry ketone sources now!

I take a creatine supplement (MRI CE2 Hi-Def) that has raspberry ketone in it as an aid to fat burning. I have taken a lot of different creatine supplements and I like this one a lot (especially because it is in caplet form and not the nasty powder form).

I forgot to mention that the smell of raspberry ketone is actually a positive, which stands in start contrast to a lot of other supplements that I have taken in the past. Some of the bottles of my creatine with raspberry ketones have a very strong raspberry smell that (if you like raspberries) smells really good. Just had to say that it's a nice change to have a strong smelling supplement that actually smells GOOD :)
